How can technology enhance communication for individuals in the ODP system?

Technology plays a significant role in enhancing communication for individuals in the ODP (Office of Developmental Programs) system by providing tools that facilitate effective expression. This includes a variety of assistive technologies that can aid in verbal and non-verbal communication, such as speech-generating devices, communication apps, and other forms of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

These tools empower individuals who may have difficulties with traditional forms of communication, enabling them to express their needs, thoughts, and feelings more clearly and independently. In contrast, limiting choices and interactions or discouraging social skills development would hinder communication and connection with others.
